The OQ Chemicals plant Ruhrchemie is located west of Oberhausen. It was built in 1927 by Kohlenchemie AG and renamed Ruhrchemie AG in 1928. The operator of the 120-hectare plant is now OQ Chemicals.
OQ Chemicals is one of the largest suppliers of Oxo products and derivatives. The company offers a comprehensive and well-coordinated product portfolio across the entire Oxo value chain. These include various solvents, polyols, carboxylic acids, alkylamines and olefin derivatives. These are used, for example, in high-quality coatings, lubricants, cosmetic and pharmaceutical products, aromas and fragrances, printing inks and plastics.
OQ Chemicals has annual sales of around EUR 1.2 billion and employs around 1,400 people at production sites in Europe and the USA. About 1,100 of these people are working for OQ Chemicals in Germany. The Ruhrchemie plant in Oberhausen is the administrative headquarters and also the largest production site of OQ Chemicals.
