With the acquisition of the Vinamul Polymers business of ICI in 2005, Celanese Emulsions is now a global leader in polymer emulsions, with a broad portfolio of products covering most monomer systems, and unique expertise in vinyl-based emulsions. In line with its strategy to focus on core businesses with leading market positions, Celanese sold its emulsion powder business to National Starch and Chemical Company (NSC) and Elotex AG in summer 2005.

On February 5th , 2005 , Celanese acquired all of the business interests of Vinamul Polymers. The Vinamul Polymers business in North America and Europe has been fully integrated into the Celanese Emulsions business.
